This position's primary role is to provide team leadership for Leisure Travel Industry Sales programs for Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB). This position oversees development of Leisure Travel Trade markets In all global markets including US, Canada, Europe and Latin America through enhanced relationships with Wholesale Travel and Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Airline Vacation Packagers and Receptive Tour Operators offering increased Palm Beach County product and package offerings through their sales distribution channels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership and direction to the Leisure Travel Industry Sales Team
Oversees global leisure sales efforts with a particular focus on North American and European leisure travel markets through applicable travel trade channels.
Collaborates and provides insights / direction to the Director, Latin America Sales
Develops business and sales / marketing plans for specific domestic and international markets Collaborates and provides direction to existing and new third-party organizations representing
The Palm Beaches.
Builds and develops relationships with community stakeholders
Ensures DTPB brand is properly represented (visually and verbally) in all trade events, client activities and partner interactions.
Seeks leadership roles in trade and professional associations to further elevate the DTPB industry stature and acquire cutting edge trends and information.
Leverages CRM system and additional organizational tools to support business decisions
Measures success and ensures Key Performance Indicators (KPls) are tracked
Oversees Leisure Sales budgets and ensures expenditures are aligned to proper ROI Collaborates with all DTPB departments including Marketing, Group Sales, Finance, etc.
Ensures the Master Leisure Calendar of events is defined across all Sales functions (i.e.
Destination Reviews, Sales Missions, Tradeshows)
Evaluates, develops and executes best practice measures within Leisure Sales to ensure efficiencies
Assumes the central point of contact for key agency consortia relationships
Provides an active role in ensuring the proper content and messaging for the travel trade community (i.e. marketing programs, incentives, tour operator programs, Travel Agent Certification programs)
Attends trade shows, conventions, conferences, seminars, and other travel-related events as an DTPB official tourism representative.
Collaborates within Digital Marketing to ensure content direction for Travel Trade portion of thepalmbeaches.com is relevant
Organizes and conducts sales missions and blitzes with assistance from the local travel industry.
Leverages ongoing communication efforts with travel agents, tour operators, and other travel related companies to influence product inclusion (i.e. hotels and attractions)
Evaluates the effectiveness of promotional efforts (i.e. room nights) through the gathering of data from travel agents and tour operators, personal appraisals, and feedback from the local travel industry.
Develops a thorough knowledge of properties, attractions, and travel services through on-site visits and ongoing communication.
Leverages Business Intelligence and shares information about trends, intelligence, topical issues, and other news within the local travel industry.
Supports third party GDS agreements and leverages insights in sales related capacities Establishes new programs, promotions and incentives to drive business within the county Supports other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Evaluates and introduces new internal and external processes for all leisure sales functions Supports other organizational duties as needed
Four-year degree from an academic institution or equivalent related work experience, with a minimum of 7 years' experience in the tourism industry. Must be a self-starter; be self-motivated, and able to multi task.
Must possess presentation and public speaking abilities to large audiences
Must be creative and detail oriented.
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Must exercise solid judgment and diplomacy in a wide variety of pubEic contact situations.
Must be flexible and be able to adjust to changing conditions and circumstances. Must demonstrate a positive attitude and cooperate with staff.
