POSITION SUMMARY

We're seeking a Manager, Marketing and Communications to support ASTA's marketing and communications function. This role is responsible for developing clear, compelling communications and marketing content across public relations, digital channels, campaigns, internal communications, member engagement, and consumer-facing initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines excellent writing and editing skills, strong project management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling messages for multiple audiences. This person should be comfortable supporting media relations (including pitching and working directly with the media), marketing campaigns, executive communications, digital content, and internal communications, while ensuring ASTA's voice remains consistent, credible, and aligned across all channels.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the public voice, digital presence and marketing impact of a national trade association that advocates for the travel advisor community.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Communications and Brand Messaging
Support the execution of ASTA's communications strategy to reinforce its position as the leading voice of the travel advisor industry.
Develop clear, consistent messaging for ASTA initiatives, campaigns, events, advocacy priorities, partnerships, member programs, and organizational announcements.
Write and edit content for ASTA.org, newsletters, email campaigns, social media, blogs, presentations, event materials, talking points, and other marketing and communications channels.
Help ensure all communications align with ASTA's mission, brand voice, advocacy priorities, and value proposition.
Collaborate with internal departments to translate complex industry, advocacy and organizational topics into accessible, compelling communications.
Media Relations
Support ASTA's media relations efforts by drafting press releases, media statements, talking points, op-eds, Q&As and other external communications materials.
Monitor travel industry, business, policy and consumer media coverage to identify trends, opportunities and issues affecting ASTA, its members and the travel advisor community.
Assist with media outreach, reporter research, interview preparation and coordination of media responses in partnership with senior communications leadership.
Help maintain media lists, track coverage and compile reports that demonstrate ASTA's visibility and communications impact.
Support proactive and reactive communications on industry issues, advocacy developments and emerging topics affecting travel advisors.
Marketing and Campaign Support
Support integrated marketing campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, event participation, member value, partner visibility and advocacy action.
Draft and edit marketing copy for emails, landing pages, promotional materials, social media, newsletters, digital advertising and other campaign assets.
Support content marketing efforts that elevate ASTA's programs, events, education, research, advocacy wins, partnerships and member resources.
Help coordinate campaign calendars, project timelines and cross-functional deliverables to ensure marketing and communications efforts are aligned and delivered on schedule.
Assist with audience segmentation, message versioning and channel planning to ensure campaigns are tailored appropriately for members, prospects, consumers, partners and other key stakeholders.
Review campaign performance metrics and help identify opportunities to improve engagement, clarity and reach.
Internal, Executive and Member Communications
Support internal communications by drafting newsletters, organizational announcements, leadership messages and staff-facing materials that promote alignment, transparency and connection across ASTA.
Support executive communications, including drafting remarks, talking points, presentation copy, leadership messages and other materials for ASTA executives.
Help develop member communications that clearly explain ASTA priorities, advocacy updates, benefits, programs, events and opportunities for engagement.
Work with departments across ASTA to translate internal priorities into clear communications for the appropriate audiences.
Digital, Social Media and Content Development
Assist in creating, editing and coordinating content for ASTA's digital channels, including website updates, newsletters, social media, email campaigns and other communications platforms.
Support social media planning and execution by drafting posts, identifying content opportunities and coordinating with internal subject matter experts.
Help manage editorial and campaign calendars to ensure timely, coordinated communications across public relations, marketing, advocacy, events, partnerships and internal communications.
Assist with tracking digital performance metrics, including email engagement, website content performance, social media activity and campaign results.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, content strategy or a related field, preferably within the travel, nonprofit, association, advocacy or membership sectors.
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or Journalism.
Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling content for a variety of audiences and channels.
Experience supporting media relations, public relations campaigns, executive communications and organizational messaging.
Demonstrated ability to develop marketing and communications content for email, web, social media, newsletters, presentations, campaign materials and digital platforms.
Experience supporting integrated communications or marketing campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, event participation or action.
Familiarity with digital communications tools, content calendars, email marketing, social media platforms, and performance reporting such as Meltwater, Cision, Canva, HubSpot.
Experience with internal communications, employee communications, or organizational announcements preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Familiarity with design tools is a plus.
Passion for the travel industry and supporting the travel advisor community.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
